# How do credits work on the ElevenLabs iOS or Android app?

Credits give you flexibility to power your listening. For Text to Speech, one character will cost you one credit.

We believe it’s fair for users as it gives you maximum flexibility. You only get charged credits when you generate content.

**How can I get more credits for the ElevenLabs iOS or Android app?**

Subscribe to our Creator monthly or annual plans for the best savings on credits, or for more options you can login and upgrade at [elevenlabs.io](http://elevenlabs.io). You can use your subscription across our website, iOS and Android apps.

If you subscribed through the mobile app, it isn't possible to purchase Pay As You Go credits. If you want access to this feature, you'll need to switch to a website subscription. **When do credits expire in the ElevenLabs iOS or Android app?**

If you have a subscription, you will automatically rollover unused credits up to twice your usual monthly quota, provided you remain on the same subscription. If you cancel or downgrade your subscription, you will lose any unused credits when that takes effect at the end of your billing cycle.
